The town has become an amalgamation of writers, musicians, filmmakers, ceramicists, dancers, actors, and architects. The artistic community is showcased at the annual Wirksworth Festival in September, an interactive event that involves the entire community.

When Blackpop's founder, Maxine Hall had just left university back in the early 90s she was offered a dream job as a games designer; in a not so 'career savvy' move, she turned it down 😏 Since then, Maxine has always wondered what if… In our new collection, 'Virtual Landscapes' Maxine designs her gaming inspired backdrops. Our brand new 'Kado', is named after the creator of the iconic 'Space Invaders', and is inspired by the tomb raider Lara Croft.
