‘The Tudor Collection - Deconstructed

‘Working with the team at the National Portrait Gallery and these amazing paintings has been a complete privilege. Being able to examine and reimagine over 20 works to create abstract, contemporary patterns has been a creatives dream. The richness and depth of the colour palette alone gives these new designs an edge and a stand out
wow factor that I am very excited to call our second collection’.
Maxine Hall Designer/Director

Many of the images were taken as part of the National Portrait Gallery’s Making Art in Tudor Britain research project, which has deepened understanding the Gallery’s collection of sixteenth-century portraits through close examination of the paintings, using imaging techniques
such as photomicroscopy, x-radiography and infrared reflectography.

‘The National Portrait Gallery is delighted to be working with Blackpop on The Tudor Collection - Deconstructed,
and excited by the creativity displayed in these beautiful designs’.
Nicola Saunders, Head of Business Development, National Portrait Gallery.
