The Iconic Egg Chair
Designed in 1958 the Egg Chair is a design classic that has become one of the most recognisable and copied chairs of all time.
Created by the uber talented Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for the SAS Royal Hotel in downtown Copenhagen and designed for the lobby, the hotel was fitted with 50 first edition Eggs. Imagine that!
Naturally the Egg Chair was the most outstanding part of his entire hotel design, going on to become a global success. It broke all design conventions with its curving shape, which Jacobsen achieved by moulding the inner structure out of foam [developed its shape the first instance by moudling clay in his garage at home] allowing for both strength and softness of shape.
Originally covered with a high quality leather [ and later other plain fabrics], authentic Egg chairs have a proper label - red for those made before 2010 and brown for those made after that date. Each chair will have the authentic Republic of Fritz Hansen logo and if it's an older model, it may have a serial number under the base.

Following in those illustrious design footsteps, Blackpop's Jacobsen inspired Egg style chairs are every inch the statement piece you deserve. With their elliptical shape acting as the perfect cocoon, they are the perfect addition to any home, lobby or work space.
