The 'Collectors' Collection

In this collection, Blackpop has undoubtedly created its most opulent & dramatic work to date working in collaboration with the Sir John Soane's Museum. Directly reworking architects’ drawings, paintings and objects d'art, the 'Collectors' Collection consists of six wallpaper designs and fabric designs and two hand woven rugs - designs for fabric and wallpapers that are historical with a contemporary twist.

The two designs, Hampton Hex and Hampton Gold were created from
Sir John Soane's and Richard Adam's architectural drawings and a sketch design
for the ceiling of the Queen's State Bedchamber
at Hampton Court Palace, 1715, by Sir James Thornhill.

Designer/Director Maxine Hall says

" A couple of my highlights were reworking two of Adam’s illustrations that
never came to realisation until now, embedded in ‘Fresco’.
'The other was working with and taking out segments
from Canaletto’s paintings of Venice and reassembling them for
the background of ‘Capriccio’.  My design approach isn’t to copy existing motifs
it’s a creative process of deconstructing and reworking, reassembling and reconstructing "
