The Story Behind the Making
Collaborating with the Sir John Soane's Museum and directly working and reworking architects’ drawings, paintings and objects d'art, Blackpop has undoubtedly created its most opulent & dramatic work to date.
The ‘Collector’s’ Collection
consists of 5 new wallpaper designs, 3 new fabric designs and 2 hand woven rugs, each with its own story to tell.
Designer/Director Maxine Hall says
'I felt a heady responsibility reworking two of Adam’s illustrations penned for floor coverings that never came to realisation until now. 'Capriccio'
Working with and taking out segments from Canaletto’s paintings of Venice and reassembling them for the background of ‘Capriccio’ was a designers dream.
We have also had stunning statement rugs made from the 'Fresco' and 'Capriccio' designs, hand knotted rugs traditionally woven on the loom in Nepal. They are beautifully crafted to the highest quality, collaborating with Knots Rugs.'
Our design approach isn’t to copy existing motifs it’s a creative process of dismantling, reassigning and combining.'
